These documents reveal how standardization, rooted in post-war behaviorism and early psychometrics, replaced curiosity with compliance and mislabeled sensitivity as pathology. The author’s childhood experiences—including an episode of near-death–like altered awareness at age eight—serve as a case study in how institutional misunderstanding can disrupt, yet ultimately catalyze, consciousness development. Integrating affective neuroscience, quantum biology, and complexity theory, At Risk reframes “disorder” as design: a natural architecture through which the nervous system self-organizes under tension.
