Where does the quality of things reside? The heat of coffee, the sweetness of apples—all qualities imply a frame from which a comparison is anchored, so that when we say "hot" or "cold" we do so in relation to something less hot or cold. This frame of reference that we shall call “an observer” is embedded in the information that unfolds. In that sense, information is a comparison, a contrast, and the observer is imbricated within. Defining a valid and useful framework for addressing the phenomenology of observation, linking the observer and the observed, has become a relevant research topic for both cognitive and exact sciences. And to this end, it is essential to arrive at a unified, operational, and practical definition of what we call an observer. Analyzing the underlying logic of quantum mechanics in the interaction between light and matter, this work develops a definition of a quantum observer as a tetrapolar viewpoint, where each pole or viewpoint contains the other three viewpoints that are entangled with it. Such a structure introduces a feedback mechanism that is assigned as a self-referential observation frame, depicting an irreducible representation of information exchange. This representation serves as an ontological framework to define and relate the concept of information and observers, where the observer is imbricated in the information displayed.
