2026 marks 30 years since Dr Hameroff’s 1996 1-hour phone call with James N Rose resulted in asking him to present “Integrity Paradigm” at “Towards a Science of Consciousness, II”. That conference was science’s benchmark event spanning 8 days, with 1200 attendees from all branches of world science and the arts, including a half dozen Nobel laureates. Several premiere topics included Dr Hameroff & Sir Roger Penrose “microtubules” ~ Orchestrated Objective Reduction; Dr Brian Josephson’s “QM Junctions” brain synapses; the opening plenary debate of Daniel Dennett “Multiple Drafts delay” vs. Steven Pinker’s “Hard Problem of Consciousness”; Bernard Baars “Global Workspace of the Brain”; and even JNRose “Integrity Paradigm”, bringing Systems Theory and Complexity relations to the conversation. Overall, the conference was a unique Masters Agora on Consciousness. ** In 2026, Consciousness [Cs] remains an unsettled topic of both objective interest and subjective concern – from quantum mechanics [QM] to the vast beyond-quantum performance universe. ** In that 1996 context “Integrity Paradigm” presented a creative foray into the Rules of Performance and Behaviors of the Universe keyed to Consciousness – by opening with broadly recognizing that mathematics was apparently habituated and deficient in touching the relations -or- machinery of Consciousness. Then, Cs was tied to distinctly different mathematic depictions: QM, neurobiology, cybernetics, semiotics, psychology, sociology, communication, et al. Now, in 2026 per AI review, there still exist 39 different mathematical propositions – diverse and uncoordinated (!). ** At “TSC-II” Rose broached describing several novel “new Mathematic thema relations of engagements and responsiveness” – based on information relations expanded from energy-modelings alone. Those included reconsiderations of a) the Turing Test -vs- Maxwell’s ‘sentient demon’, b) Gödel’s ‘incompleteness theorems” reinterpreted as open rather than constrained ‘communication~awareness’ – citing accessible information relations built on the fundamental “Gödel alphabet”, c) others. ** For ‘TSC 2026’ Rose rejoins the conversation, prepared to complete Integrity Paradigm’s original “ambitious mathematics” proposition – now with explicit and significant details. Because, even with 30 years of sci~math advances in complexity, emergence, quantum computing, neural mappings, and even AI Artificial Intelligence language modelings approaching conversant “meaning compositions” on par with human communication – a true viable global depiction of “consciousness’ has still eluded all other efforts of description and reasoned explanations. For a century+ no new rigorous mathematics – distinct from (yet inclusive of) thermodynamics, QM and bio-social relations – have been available to break the tail-chasing myopic math models then conventionally in place. Until NOW. ** Now, at the 3rd-decade anniversary of 1996 “TSC”, Rose will present expanded mathematics conventions and viable logic-based ‘frames of reference’ to firmly bridge QM with biological sentience. Topics include: Leibniz ‘information bit’; Boole Idempotence to define “general entroepy” for information – peer to ‘energy entropy’; Nested Cantorian Infinities – math of natural hierarchy tiers of physical existence; et alia; including a new identification of two distinct “forms/types” of Consciousness! Improvements to expand math conventions - not replace them. ** As momentous as 1996 “TSC” conference was, 30th anniversary conference will be as important – fulfilling the aspired insights spotlighted. ** “Re-conceiving consciousness thru Re-imagining the principles of the universe.”
James N Rose, Biologist and General Systems specialist has been an emeritus General Systems Theorist [GST/TOE] since 1973. His most recent status is as Chair of International Society for the Systems Sciences [ISSS] "General Systems Mathematics and Languaging SIG" (Special Investigations Group). He has presented, by invitation, at international conferences from 1996 to present.
