PRAGMADROMIA: Objective Synchronicity I. ETYMOLOGY AND DEFINITION Pragmadromia combines two ancient Greek roots: πρᾶγμα (pragma) — a fact, event, or thing in ordinary reality that exists independently of subjective experience. δρόμος (dromos) — a path; the course of an individual’s life, a career, a race track, a destiny. Formal definition: The convergence of causally independent events, observable by an independent observer, the probability of which is quantifiable by Bayesian analysis. II. WHY SYNCHRONICITY IS INSUFFICIENT Jung’s definition of synchronicity (events connected by meaning not cause) is unprovable because it is a connection between 2 events where: one event is subjective, entirely internal to the individual, therefore it cannot be verified by an independent observer. So claims as to the probability of the coincidence, using this definition, cannot be falsified. Unfalsifiable claims cannot be proven. Even assuming the subjective report or interpretation is factual, the coincidence can be dismissed as cognitive bias, Apophenia, delusion of grandeur, hindsight, Texas Sharpshooter Fallacy, the Law of Truly Large Numbers, etc. Pragmadromia does not allow any internal subjective report or interpretation. The events cannot be denied whether or not anyone observes or experiences them. The Pragmadromia method results in a quantifiable value that can be falsified. Pragmadromia is provable, synchronicity is not.
