Geobiology, Transcranial Geomagnetic Stimulation & The GEM Resonance Theory of Human Consciousness: How Gravity and Electromagnetism contribute to Human Consciousness

Geobiology, the scientific investigation of the relationships of the Earth’s physical environment and the biosphere, provides a conceptual framework for understanding the impact of environmental geomagnetic fields on human consciousness. Magnetic fields have long been suspected of impacting human consciousness. Sinnett (1923) was advised to meditate under a bar magnet as a prescription for “lucidity.” Today, magnetic fields are used to alter the course of major depression. Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) utilizes magnetic fields to induce neuro-electric signaling, altering self-awareness. As a conceptual continuation of Elmer Green’s (1991, 1992) research entitled “Physical Fields and States of Consciousness,” an empirical investigation was initiated in 2017. It began by exploring potential relationships of near-surface environmental electricity (polarized air gases) and environmental magnetism (geomagnetic vector fields). Solar correlates of these signals led to an expansion of the research focus to include gravitational field effects. Numerous examples of correlated gravitational and electromagnetic (GEM) fields were identified (Parks, 2023 a, b, c, d, e, f). Consistently correlated GEM field patterns prompted an investigation into extremely low-frequency (ELF) geomagnetic behavior. Diurnal rhythms with solar and lunar correlates led to questions of the potential impact of the near-surface magneto-electric environment on human physiology and consciousness (Parks, 2024). Gravitational acceleration (g), Earth’s rotational speed in a specific location, is altered by Earth tides. Earth tides, driven by positions of the Sun and Moon, reshape the planet, altering one’s distance from the Earth’s rotational axis, and thereby modifying one’s rotational speed. Earth-tides place tremendous strain on Earth’s lithosphere and are correlated with earthquake activity. It is hypothesized that Earth tides put mechanical strain on subterranean ferrous minerals, resulting in alterations of geomagnetic ELF behavior. A widely accepted theory (the geomagnetic dynamo) points exclusively to the Sun as the driving force impacting diurnal geomagnetic changes. Based on recent evidence, it is suspected that near-surface geomagnetic fields, arising from terrestrial sources (not exclusively from the long-heralded geomagnetic dynamo), create an ever-present, dynamic energy source penetrating all living systems. Geomagnetic ELF behavior is hypothesized to impact human consciousness via magneto-electric induction and resonant frequency dynamics. Biochemical reactions are affected by weak magnetic fields (Hore, 2012). Reputed healers were found to have anomalously large body potential surges (Tiller, 1995). Cajochen (2013) found “reliable evidence that a lunar rhythm can modulate sleep structure in humans.” Utilizing magneto-electric induction, TMS has been shown to alter consciousness and impact the course of depression. Hence, one suspects that human consciousness is affected by gravitationally driven, weak geomagnetic fields in the neurologically relevant ELF range. In summary, converging lines of evidence support the hypothesis that gravitationally driven geomagnetic ELF behavior influences physiologic processes and thereby influences human consciousness: 1) TMS impacts human consciousness; 2) evidence of lunar impact on sleep structure; 3) diurnal geomagnetic ELF behavior reveals solar correlates aligned with human activity and electroencephalographic (EEG) patterns; 4) newly discovered evidence of lunar correlates embedded in diurnal geomagnetic ELF behavior patterns. Utilizing a Geobiology framework, supporting evidence, and the GEM resonance theory of human consciousness will be presented.

About the speaker

Peter A. Parks, Ph.D., earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Memphis with a major in Psychology and a minor in Fine Arts.  He received two (2) Master of Science degrees from Emporia State University with a focus in Counseling Psychology and Art Therapy.  He was awarded a Ph.D. in Psychology for his dissertation entitled, "Psychophysiologic Self-Awareness and Self-Regulation Training: A Data-Based Assessment of EEG Amplitude Scores and Divergent Thinking Measures" by Saybrook Institute in 1996.  He was employed at The Menninger Clinic in Topeka, Kansas, under the direct supervision of Elmer Green, Ph.D.  Dr. Green, founder of the Council Grove Conference on Consciousness Studies (1969-2024), was his mentor, teacher, and professional collaborator.  Dr. Green taught him to recognize the importance of exploring uncharted waters to better understand the impact of forces of nature on human physiology and consciousness.

As a researcher, educator, and executive skills coach, Dr. Parks has devoted his professional life to an exploration of naturally occurring rhythms embedded in activities of healthy living. Bridging academic and experiential learning approaches, he embarked on a lifelong journey to overcome blocks to creative expression. Learning to embrace paradox, tolerate ambiguity, resist premature closure, and develop an observer perspective, his passion for understanding the larger challenges facing science and humanity has dominated his thinking in recent years. His current research efforts focus on gravitational field effects as reflected in the domains of electromagnetic fields and human consciousness.   Dr. Parks has developed an observational strategy that holds promise to increase our understanding of synchronized rhythms of nature as we explore their role in addressing some of the most elusive questions in the history of modern science.
