A beautifully vivid way of visualizing the geometric structure of the universe utilizing the model of the tertiary structure of protein folding. Time is modeled as the alpha helix folding back upon itself having both linear flow as well as a rhythmic periodicity moving along a linear path. Space is modeled as beta-pleated undulating sheets with surfaces expanding and contracting in an interconnected, sprawling web or grid. Just as the sheets provide rigidity and form to proteins, the planar geometry of a beta sheets bend and curve around mass in the universe. Just as a protein cannot function as an isolated single helix or individual sheet, but must fold and weave together into a complex continuum; time and space cannot exist as individual, isolated disconnected systems, but must weave themselves together into our geometrically complex universe constantly expanding and contracting as a complex, living macrostructure.
